West Coast Road Trip!

A week of vacation and a thirst for adventure was all we needed as an excuse to road trip down the West Coast. Beginning in Seattle, we loaded up our 70’s RV with our necessities (my cannon, a pair of sunglasses, and the perfect road trip playlist) and a few of our favorite people and hit the road. Cannon Beach and the Tillamook Cheese Farm were our only Oregon stops, but must see destinations, as we headed down to the Pacific Coast Highway through the legendary Redwood Forest. Magical is the only way to describe it. On to the unbeatable endless miles of cliffs and the infinite horizon as you make your way through northern California.

We stopped to see the water geyser and Thor’s Well in Cape Perpetua and continued down to San Francisco where we enjoyed an action packed day of city adventuring. After we had our fun, we continued down the coast, driving through the beautiful area known as Big Sur. Hidden beaches and coves are in no short supply as they line the coast. Campgrounds are close by so you can get the full experience.

We took our time and bathed in the encapsulating beauty of one of nature’s many mysteries. We visited Pfeiffer Beach with the hole in the middle of the rock as we walked through “barking” purple sand. We then drove over Bixby Bridge (after taking the iconic picture of course) and continued on down to L.A. where we hiked in Griffith Park to get a closer view of the Hollywood Sign and on to Laguna Beach where we played endless volleyball matches until the sun went down with a couple local friends. We spent our last day at Venice Beach playing in the waves and watching the sunset on the pier; A perfect end to our phenomenal trip. So if you only have a week of vacation and you’re thinking about taking on the PCH road trip experience, just know that it’s definitely doable! But just a fair warning, you’ll never want to go home.
