Leavenworth

Looking for a quick weekend trip? Drive over to Leavenworth, WA and you’ll find a winter wonderland at your fingertips. It’s a small German town with plenty activities for both children and adults! There is no shortage of German restaurants and bars but in my opinion, the best German food is either the Bavarian Bistro or the Munchen Haus. The Munchen Haus has traditional brats and dogs with over 15 different kinds of mustard and sauerkraut that’s to die for. It’s an outdoor restaurant with a few tables with fire in the center. The Bavarian Bistro, while also German food, is indoor with a more relaxed and cozy atmosphere. Their menu has a larger variety of traditional German eats. Check out the ski hill if you find yourself wanting to go tubing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or skiing or snowboarding. If you’re trying to hang around town, grab a sled and hit the smaller hill in the center of the town.

There is also a beautiful park just a short walk east where you can walk over a bridge and onto an island. You’ll find an abundance of nature, wildlife, and fantastic views of the river and mountains. There are many more activities so get out and explore! If you’re super ambitious and want the snow to last even longer, take a quick stop at Lake Wenatchee.

HINT: don’t go to the main entrance; go to the campsites on the North side of the Wenatchee River. There are less people, more wildlife, less worn snowshoe trails, and even a snow fort to check out. You’ll run into the Insta-famous Emerald Island as well. Uninterrupted beauty is the best kind! If you have an awesome story or a noteworthy destination in or around Leavenworth let us know! We don’t want to miss out!
