The New Foundation Seattle

The New Foundation Seattle, founded by philanthropist and art collector, Shari D. Behnke in 2012, is dedicated to advancing contemporary art in Seattle. Martha Rosler was awarded the New Foundation Seattle’s $100,000 prize and has been working with the Foundation the first half of 2016 and will continue to throughout the year. There are exhibitions, screenings, workshops, and community discussions dealing with issues related to housing that are conducted within the walls of the gallery. We visited her current exhibition, “Housing is a Human Right,” where she portrays data from many different cities all over the United States regarding their housing crises. Seattle, in particular, is considered to be in a housing crisis, and Martha Rosler is submerging herself in the core of it.

Unfortunately we’ve just gotten word that the wonderful gallery will close next month so head over there if you haven’t already and take in Martha Rosler’s amazing work, as well as the historical gallery that is the New Foundation Seattle.
